One Day National Seminar on NDE of Composite structures

Workshop for Academic Community

As part of the ISNT objective of popularizing NDT among the academic community, the Chapter organize state level seminars on The Science And Technology Of Non Destructive Evaluation jointly with and Universities and Colleges within Kerala.

One day Workshop - 2008

Organised the one day event on Feb 16, 2008 at Devaswam Board College, Shasthamkotta, Quilon, affiliated to the University of Kerala. The inaugural function was presided by the Principal of the College and inaugurated by Dr S Annamalai Pillai, Vice Chairman, ISNT Thiruvananthapuram Chapter. The workshop was attended by 80 students and staff of the college. Experts from Thiruvananthapuram Chapter delivered the lectures.

SHORT TERM NDT COURSE -2007

Organised at Govt. Engg. College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram

ISNT, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter jointly with Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, organized a short term course titled “Non-Destructive Testing Methods for Engineers” during 19th to 30th November, 2007. This programme was organized as a part of Staff Development Programme sponsored by Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala.

ISNT, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter provided the Entire Faculty for the programme. Course notes course were also prepared and supplied to the delegates. The Class room Lectures and Practical demonstrations were handled by 24 Qualified and Experienced personnel of the Chapter.

The course was inaugurated by the Managing Director of Kerala High Tech Industries, Thiruvananthapuram. Principal, Govt. Engg. College, Chairman & Vice Chairman of ISNT, Thiruvananthapuram chapter were also addressed.



DETAILS ABOUT THE COURSE

The course was designed to give an over view of all NDT techniques including the advanced techniques and practical demonstrations in class room as well during industry visits. The lecture series started with Material processing, Significance of defects and Fracture mechanics in order to make the participants understand the need for NDT and its relevance in Design. Ultrasonics, radiography and advanced techniques were also covered in detail by the experts in the respective fields.

Industry Visits were organized at Kerala High Tech Industries & Vikram Sarabhai Space Center. Demonstrated various NDT equipments and inspection techniques in UT, RT, PT and Fiberscopic inspection, Holography, Photo elastic coating and Laser techniques, etc.
